Applications open for the Denver Regional Council of Governments 2026 Civic Academy.

The no-cost program helps residents learn about regional issues and strengthens civic engagement. The program meets every Tuesday evening from September 29 through November 10. Participants will learn from local experts about regional issues such as transportation, housing and population growth, and explore ways to engage and participate in their communities. During the seven-week program,  participants also will develop an individual action plan to address a challenge in their community.

Civic Academy has helped participants become more engaged in civic life community leadership. Alumni have gone on to hold public office, serve in high-profile positions in public agencies and nonprofit organizations or used their knowledge to advocate for local needs and strengthen community connections.

Applications for the 2026 session close 5 p.m. Friday, September 4. For more information, visit the Civic Academy page or email public engagement planner Angie Shelbourn.
