Colorado Bike Month/Bike to Work Day artist sought

Calling all artists! The Denver Regional Council of Governments and its Way to Go program are seeking submissions of artwork for the the 2018 Colorado Bike Month and Bike to Work Day poster--an opportunity to gain high statewide visibility for your work! DRCOG has once again used origin and destination data from registered Bike to Work Day participants to create a chord map showing the density of trips to and from various locations: check it out. 

DRCOG awarded $4.5 million to assist service providers

DRCOG has been awarded $4.5 million from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services to bridge the gap between clinical and community service providers. Known as the Accountable Health Communities model, this innovative approach will strengthen the network of health and social providers to better assist Medicare and Medicaid recipients. Jennifer Schaufele resigns

Jennifer Schaufele has resigned her position as executive director of DRCOG, effective Friday, Feb. 17. 
During her nearly 13-year tenure she was at the helm of major regional advancements, including the redevelopment of Denver’s Union Station and lobbying for significant improvements to the Older Americans Act. She also galvanized peers across the nation to advocate for improvements in federal transportation funding.

New Land Use Explorer launches

The socioeconomic team at DRCOG has created a new tool to show forecast data created using UrbanSim. Forecasts from the model were used to create the DRCOG Land Use Explorer, where users can examine forecasts for multiple geographies including zones, municipalities, counties, and urban centers calculated at five-year intervals between 2010 and 2040.

New Metro Vision plan approved

On Wednesday, Jan. 18, the DRCOG Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve the latest version of Metro Vision, the region's plan for growth and development out to the year 2040. By speaking with one voice to adopt the plan, the Board gives life to an aspirational vision for the metro area. More than five years in the making, the current version of Metro Vision represents a significant update to the plan that has guided local decision making for more than 20 years. Read the plan.

Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging releases recommendations

As Coloradans age, they will affect every facet of daily life for millions of residents, including the state’s economy, state and local programs, and the everyday lives of countless families. Indeed, Colorado stands at the end of a demographic shift that will define it for generations.

Colorado is working to seize the opportunities this shift presents and to face challenges that may arise. We were proud to contribute to the Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging’s first set of recommendations to help Colorado prepare now through 2030.
