The Way to Go team encourages travelers to skip the stress of Interstate 70 traffic and explore convenient, cost-saving alternatives to driving alone.
A typical round trip from Denver to Silverthorne can cost $25 to- $50 in fuel and parking, but regional transportation options make it easier — and environmentally friendly — to reach your favorite slopes.
Carpooling is a popular choice, with plenty of parking at the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Hogback Park-n-Ride lots in Golden, including Wooly Mammoth, T-Rex and Stegosaurus lots. Carpoolers can connect through the TreadShare app to share rides and reduce congestion.
Another transportation option is Bustang, the CDOT operated passenger express bus service, offering service to destinations like Vail, Frisco and Avon, complete with Wi-Fi, restrooms, and bike racks. Pegasus, another shuttle service, also runs along the I-70 corridor, using express lanes for a faster trip.
The traveling options not only save money for commuters but also help keep Colorado’s air clean and traffic manageable.
