Every four-years the Denver Regional Council of Governments, in coordination with local and regional partners, updates the Regional Transportation Plan, which outlines the region's priorities and identifies investments for tackling the region’s needs.

The Regional Transportation Plan sets the vision for the Denver region’s multimodal transportation system and guides investment in the projects and programs to achieve that vision.

The draft plan is the culmination of almost two-years of work coordinating with partners and engaging with the region. 

Through the draft plan’s major project and program investment priorities, the region will:

• Increase safety for all users of the transportation system, with a focus on vulnerable road users.
• Improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
• Expand the region’s rapid transit network.
• Provide more ways to travel by car, bus, foot, bicycle and other mobility devices, especially for underserved communities and transportation users.
• Prepare for and adapt to future changes in transportation and the region.

A public hearing on the draft will be held on Wednesday, October 7.
