Schools across the country each October celebrate national Walk and Roll to School Day to encourage students, families and school communities to walk, bike or roll to school.

This year's celebration takes place Wednesday, October 7. To find participating schools or register your school, visit the Walk Bike to School website.

The Way to Go program is supporting schools throughout the region with paper banners for students to sign, along with coloring books to help make the day fun and engaging.

Walk and Roll to School Day is an annual event involving communities from the country walking and rolling to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Today, thousands of schools participate every October.
