Be prepared this Bike to Work Day! Check this page for bicycle facility closures and Denver-region detours that may include on- and off-street facilities including shared use paths, side paths, bike lanes and more. This information will be provided by local municipalities but Way to Go recommends checking your local government website closer to June 24, 2026 to make sure there are no unexpected closures or detours on your planned route.
2026 Bicycle Facility Closures and Detours

As Bike to Work Day approaches, please note various bicycle facility closures and detours throughout the Denver region. These closures and detours may include on- and off-street bicycle facilities like shared-use paths, side paths, bicycle lanes and other facilities. This information should not be considered all-inclusive. Please contact your local jurisdiction, county public works or transportation department for information regarding facilities along your Bike to Work Day route.
CITIES AND TOWNS
City of Arvada
The Alkire Street Trail project between 80th Avenue and 78th Avenue may impact pedestrian and bicycle access during work hours. Pedestrian access is maintained on the east side of Alkire Street.
60th Avenue between Sheridan Blvd. and Wolff Street may see flaggers and construction activities. The sidewalk may be closed on the north side of 60th Avenue.
City of Aurora
A portion of the Westerly Creek Greenway is closed at Stanley Marketplace, with a detour path available following Beeler Street. Please see the PROS Trail and Park Closure, Detours and Notices webmap.
City of Boulder
Please see the City of Boulder Cone Zones webmap for information on detours, event closures and delays, upcoming projects, and low and high impact projects.
Town of Castle Rock
The East Plum Creek Trail/Colorado Front Range Trail near the Crystal Valley Parkway bridge is closed to allow contractors for Dawson's Trail to connect water infrastructure. Trail users should follow the detour signage and use Crystal Valley Parkway and Plum Creek Boulevard to rejoin the trail system.

City of Lakewood

City of Longmont

COUNTIES
Boulder County
No major closures are anticipated for Bike to Work Day. Please see Boulder County’s Cycling Impacts webmap and Road Closures webmap.
City and County of Denver

Lakewood Gulch Trail @ 8th & Vrain Bridge
Closed for structural repairs—users are detoured along W. 9th Avenue, Tennyson Street, and Utica Street.
Bear Creek Trail
Two bridges are closed at Bear Valley Park and Dartmouth and Webster.
Cherry Creek Trail
Closed under Monaco Parkway to support bridge reconstruction; users will be detoured up to Monaco Parkway and can cross using the crosswalk at the signalized intersection, Florida Avenue.
Goldsmith Gulch Trail
A section of the Goldsmith Gulch Trail north of Bible Park will be closed starting the week of June 1 so Denver Parks and Recreation can replace the old asphalt with new concrete, improving durability and accessibility. Work is expected to be finished by July. Trail users will be detoured along S. Newport Street until the project is complete.
Sanderson Gulch
Trail users between Zuni and Clay Streets will be detoured to West Gunnison Dr. during construction on trail upgrades.
South Platte River Trail
Multiple detours and closures are in effect during trail construction. Find more information about trail improvements at the project website.
Between 9th and 13th Avenues, the trail detour will start just north of the Weir Gulch Trail and 9th Avenue with a temporary connection to Alcott St and follow north to the existing bike lanes on W 13th Ave to connect back to the South Platte River Trail. Please follow the detour along Alcott Street and avoid the construction zone.
Between 19th Street and the Broncos Bridge, Metro Water Recovery is rehabilitating segments of corroded sewer pipe within the City and County of Denver. This construction work requires the temporary closure of a section of the South Platte River Trail between the Broncos pedestrian bridge and the 19th Street pedestrian bridge. The closure will affect the trail on the north and west side of the river, and all trail users will be detoured to the east bank trail.
At the 45th Avenue Ramp, access to the trail is closed from 45th Avenue near Globeville Landing Park to 49th Avenue. Trail users will be detoured to Washington Street.
