Speer-Leetsdale-Parker area added to corridor planning study

The Denver Regional Council of Governments has selected the Speer-Leetsdale-Parker corridor for its next major transportation study.

In August, the DRCOG Board of Directors approved the study, which will analyze alternatives for adding bus rapid transit and improving multimodal options along the corridor. The City and County of Denver proposed the project with support from the Regional Transportation District, the Colorado Department of Transportation, the City of Aurora and Arapahoe County. DRCOG staff plan to release a request for proposals in early 2026 to hire a consultant team and launch the study in summer 2026.

DRCOG created the Corridor Planning program in 2022 to fund studies that advance transportation projects in the 2050 Regional Transportation Plan. Previous projects include the Colfax BRT Next Study and the Sheridan Corridor Safety Study.
