More people, homes and jobs are coming to the Denver region

A new small-area forecast gives local leaders data to help plan for future growth

At night, cars use a major road in the Denver suburb of Aurora, Colorado.

The Denver Regional Council of Governments update the small-area forecast to help communities prepare for future housing, transportation, employment and infrastructure needs. The data supports updates to the Regional Housing Needs Assessment, and the 2026 Regional Transportation Plan. The forecast matters now because the region could reach 4.2 million people, 1.86 million households and 2.96 million jobs by 2050. Local governments can use the data to inform decision-making to keep people, goods and services moving. Browse the Small-area forecast page for more information about projected growth in the region.
