Denver Regional Council of Governments staff recently updated Taking Action on Regional Vision Zero plan to include seven regional crash profiles.

The profiles describe the most frequent crash types resulting in fatalities or severe injuries in the Denver region. By identifying the crashes and the contributing factors, DRCOG staff and regional partners can focus on mitigating such crashes.

The new profiles are:

  • Front-to-side crashes.
  • First harmful event: collision with a fixed object.
  • Motorcycle crashes.
  • Pedestrian crashes.
  • Bicycle crashes.
  • Speeding or driving too fast for conditions.
  • Alcohol suspected.

DRCOG safety planners are working with members of the Regional Vision Zero Working Group to refine the plan update. Staff will complete a draft and provide an opportunity for public review in the summer.
