The Denver Regional Council of Governments has elected its officers to serve a one-year term effective immediately.

Elected on February 18 to lead the board of directors are:

  • Colleen Whitlow, Mayor, Town of Mead – chair.
  • Richard Kondo, Council member, City of Northglenn – vice chair.
  • Jeslin Shahrezaei, Council member, City of Lakewood – secretary.
  • Judi Kern, Council member, City of Louisville – treasurer.

Jeff Baker, Arapahoe County commissioner, will serve as immediate past chair. During the board meeting on February 18, DRCOG Executive Director Douglas W. Rex expressed his appreciation for Baker’s years of service, acknowledging Baker’s commitment to serve as the board chair for almost two years. Rex also said that for him, “working with Chair Baker has been an absolute joy,” adding that Baker was always available and ready to respond.

"Serving as DRCOG board chair has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career in public service. Our region faces complex challenges that no single jurisdiction can solve alone, and I'm proud of the collaborative work this board has accomplished over the past year,” said Commissioner Baker. “I look forward to continuing to support DRCOG's mission as immediate past chair and to working alongside our new officers as we advance transportation, housing, and regional planning priorities that improve the quality of life for everyone across the Denver metro area."

For Mayor Whitlow, she said "it's an honor to lead the Denver Regional Council of Governments as the new board chair. I'm ready to dive into important regional issues while strengthening partnerships across the metro area. I'm grateful for the continued collaboration with my fellow board members as we focus on shaping the region's future."

The DRCOG board of directors meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. In addition to its monthly meeting, board work sessions are held at 4 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Audio, video and presentations from both the meeting and work sessions are posted online each month. DRCOG currently has 59 participating member governments. In addition, the governor appoints three non-voting representatives to the board, and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) has a non-voting representative.
