Denver's Bike to Work Day Business Challenge: The race for the leaderboard returns
Based on staff participation, employers across the region will compete for bragging rights, public recognition
Denver, Colorado — Which Denver-area companies can get the most employees riding to work on Bike to Work Day? That’s the friendly call at the heart of the Bike to Work Day Business Challenge, now open for registration. Way to Go, the regional organizer of Bike to Work Day, has officially launched the 2026 annual competition, inviting employers to go head-to-head for the most coveted leaderboard position in alternative transportation.
The premise is simple: The more employees a company registers for Bike to Work Day, the higher it climbs on a public leaderboard. Companies are placed into one of five size-based categories, ranging from extra small (up to 50 employees) to extra large (2,001-plus), allowing businesses of every size to compete against organizations of a similar size. Winners in each category earn a mention in a paid news feature, custom certificates for staff and other recognition.
“So many employers across the Denver region are already doing great things to support employees who want to bike to work,” said Nisha Mokshagundam, Way to Go program manager. “The Business Challenge is a chance for those companies to be recognized. It’s about showing your employees and your community that you’re invested in giving people real commuting choices, and that reducing emissions is something you take seriously.”
Employers can register for the Business Challenge. To maximize their impact, employers should sign up before employee registration opens on Monday, April 20. Employees have until the end of Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 24, to register to ride at BikeToWorkDay.co.
