Innovative Mobility Set-Aside

The Denver Regional Council of Governments staff engage with member governments and partner agencies through collaborative learning opportunities and planning activities to help the region prepare for emerging mobility.

Program overview

The Innovative Mobility Set-Aside program supports projects centered on preparedness, feasibility, analysis and planning. By investing in innovative mobility efforts, the region can address challenges associated with topics such as, but not limited to, connected and automated vehicles, curbside management, emerging modes, shared mobility, mobility as a service, transportation electrification, mobility data and mobility hubs. 

Program goals

  • Prepare the region for advanced and emerging mobility.
  • Invest in collaborative learning.
  • Demonstrate new and innovative mobility solutions.
  • Share lessons learned across the region.
  • Improve mobility and access for travelers of all ages, incomes and abilities.

A variety of planning, preparedness, analysis and feasibility projects are eligible. Check out the list of projects underway to get a sense of the variety and kinds of projects to be funded.

Funding availability

The organization's Transportation Improvement Program set aside program includes up to $1 million per year to fund Innovative Mobility Set-Aside projects across the region. No local match is required.

Call for project proposals

The next solicitation for project proposals is planned to open in October 2026. DRCOG staff are available for consultation for eligible project partners in preparation for the call for projects.

Projects underway

The first round of Innovative Mobility Set-Aside project proposals was solicited through a letter of interest form in the fall of 2024. The Board of Directors approved the first round of projects on December 18, 2024.

The projects selected for funding in the first round were:

The second round of Innovative Mobility Set-Aside project proposals was solicited through a letter of interest form in the the fall of 2025. The Board of Directors approved the second round of projects on February 17, 2026.

The projects selected for funding in the second round were:

  • Design and Operation of Transit Signal Priority with Connected Mobility Technology City and County of Denver.
  • Multi-Station G-Line Mobility Hub Study City of Arvada.
  • Connected Signals and Resilient Communications Plan Adams County.
  • Integrated Paratransit Mobility Regional Transportation District.
