DRCOG launches regional transportation photo contest

The Denver Regional Council of Governments invites the public to showcase their creativity in a regional transportation photo contest from March 1 - April 4. Winning photos will be featured in the upcoming 2050 Metro Vision Regional Transportation Plan and featured on DRCOG's social media sites, along with photographer promotion!

Photo contest rules

  • The photo contest will run from March 1 through April 4.
  • Photos must have been taken within the past four years.
  • Photos should be of public property, in public spaces. Examples include streets, parks, skylines and landmarks.
  • By posting a photo, you certify you are the sole owner of original work.
  • By posting a photo, you agree that submissions may be used by DRCOG in future print and digital publications and communications, with proper credit to the photographer.
  • Photos must be taken within the 10-county DRCOG region (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Gilpin, Jefferson and southwest Weld counties).

     

Judging and prizes

Judges will look for:

  • Creative, engaging and dynamic photos that showcase the many ways people travel throughout the region.
  • High‑resolution images. (Most smartphone cameras qualify if the image is not zoomed in.)
  • Photos taken by a human photographer. AI‑generated images are not eligible.

Potential subjects include:

  • Walking or biking.
  • Roads and bridges.
  • Trains, buses and railroads.
  • Aviation.
  • Delivery trucks or cargo transport.
  • Local landmarks.

Participants are encouraged to browse the current regional transportation plan to see examples of strong images used in previous editions.
Ten winning photos will be selected by DRCOG staff. Winners will be featured in the 2050 Metro Vision Regional Transportation Plan, scheduled for release in 2026. DRCOG will notify winners by email and announce them on social media.

Winners will receive:

  • Photographer promotion on DRCOG’s social media accounts.
  • Their photo showcased in the Regional Transportation Plan.
