Achieving the vision

Engaged residents, dedicated local leaders and innovative partnerships help make the Denver region a great place to live, work and play.

That foundation was established more than six decades ago when visionary regional leaders began collaborating under the auspices of  the Denver Regional Council of Governments  to shape a vibrant, diverse future.

Achieving the region’s shared vision depends on individual and cooperative efforts, particularly collaboration between the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

The region's plan for the future focuses on growth, development, transportation and changing demographics with a singular goal: to make life better.

DRCOG honors accomplishments and innovations with an annual awards celebration to acknowledge the dedicated residents and partners who are committed to seeking ways to improve life for everyone.

Metro Vision Awards

The Metro Vision Awards recognizes excellence, innovation, collaboration and leadership in problem-solving among communities and their partners. Honorees include the programs, projects and plans that bring business leaders, elected officials, community advocates and residents together to accomplish more than any partner could achieve alone.

John V. Christensen Award

The John V. Christensen Award is DRCOG's highest accolade and has been presented since 1973. Established in memory of John V. Christensen, a DRCOG founder and Arapahoe County commissioner, it recognizes individuals who promote cooperation and collaboration for the benefit of the region.

Way to Go Awards

Each year, DRCOG’s Way to Go program recognizes commuters – and organizations - in the Denver region that choose commute options that reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. Help us choose our champions!

Winners of the Distinguished Service Awards, nominated by DRCOG staff and selected by the Board of Directors, will also be recognized.
