Through those decades of collaboration, the region has developed a shared sense of identity, purpose and desired outcomes. The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is a tool to promote regional cooperation on economic issues extending beyond jurisdictional boundaries. The strategy relies upon contributions from individual and regional economic development organizations, non-profits, educational institutions, and local, state and federal partners to create objectives and fulfill outcomes through different pathways and at different speeds for shared positive results.
Creating the region’s first Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy presents an opportunity for local governments to build broader, deeper, stronger, more inclusive coalitions across the region and to capture new funding opportunities at the same time.
The strategy will ensure current and future economic development efforts at the community and regional levels will continue to succeed by addressing the specific challenges and unrealized opportunities that have been identified through the process employed to develop it.
