Make small plans: State-funded opportunities for quick-wins in your community

Learn about two state funding programs – the Colorado Department of Transportation Revitalizing Main Streets Program and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Active People, Healthy Colorado Program – that have a quick application process , no local match requirements and high potential payoffs. These state funding opportunities have program goals to improve mobility choices and community spaces, support innovative uses of public space and promote healthy, active lifestyles.

Panelists from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and CDOT will discuss finding funding sources and how it works for local governments. Edgewater city manager Dan Maples will discuss his city’s experience as a grant recipient for both programs to pay for a traffic calming pop-up and another permanent project for 25th Avenue.

    Panelists:

    • Steph Leonard, built environment coordinator, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
    • Nathan Lindquist, land use planner, Colorado Department of Transportation
    • Dan Maples, city manager, Edgewater
