Transit Asset Management

Regional Transportation District commuter train passes through the Denver region.

The Federal Transit Administration published the Transit Asset Management Final Rule to provide a framework for transit agencies to monitor and manage public transportation assets, improve safety, increase reliability and performance. The rule's aim is to keep transportation systems operating smoothly and efficiently. The Regional Transportation District, the major public transportation provider in the Denver region, has developed information and targets to meet the required standard of the state of good repair, a condition in which transportation assets are able to operate at their best function. In consultation with the Federal Transit Administration and the Colorado Department of Transportation, the DRCOG Board of Directors opts to support the district’s transit asset management performance targets.
