DRCOG board elects 2019-2020 officers

The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) has elected its officers to serve a one-year term effective immediately. Elected Feb. 20 to lead the board of directors are:

  • Bob Fifer, City of Arvada, chair
  • John Diak, Town of Parker, vice chair
  • Ashley Stolzmann, City of Louisville, secretary
  • Kevin Flynn, City and County of Denver, treasurer

Herb Atchison, City of Westminster, will serve as immediate past chair.

“Mayor Atchison made great strides at the helm of our board this past year,” said Douglas W. Rex, executive director for DRCOG. “Councilman Fifer and the rest of our leadership team will undoubtedly continue the board's progress in making this region one of the best places to live.”

DRCOG board members collaborate and guide the region in the areas of transportation and mobility, regional growth and development, and aging and disability resources.

As our region continues to grow and evolve, each board faces a unique set of challenges and opportunities, and this year the board will consider such important issues as funding for aging services and transportation, with an increased focus on preparing for how emerging technology will shape our mobility future.

“With my background in information technology, I’m excited to pursue the promise presented in the groundbreaking Mobility Choice Blueprint study,” said Fifer. “DRCOG expects to take a lead role convening stakeholders from across the region, to help guide the process and shape a brighter mobility future.”

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at 1001 17th St. in Denver. In addition to its monthly meeting, board work sessions are held at 4 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Audio, video and presentations from both the meeting and work sessions are posted online each month. DRCOG currently has 58 participating member governments. In addition, the governor appoints three non-voting representatives to the board and RTD has a non-voting representative.
