Communities in Transition: tools to predict and respond to gentrification

Rapid increases in rent and home prices, stagnant wages, changing consumer preferences, land use policies and public investments affect gentrification and displacement in cities throughout the United States. Far from an uncontrollable consequence of market forces, gentrification and displacement result from many economic, political and individual decisions. 

Join us to learn about new models designed to understand how people, place and policy shape neighborhood change. CU Denver faculty will describe how publicly available data can be used to predict whether a neighborhood may be impacted by gentrification, establish early warning systems and assist in the development of prevention strategies.
