DRCOG Area Agency on Aging honored for achievements

DRCOG's Area Agency on Aging was recently recognized by two local organizations for outstanding achievements. On Monday, Dec. 4, the Colorado Business Roundtable presented DRCOG with one of its Champions in Industry awards for taking "an innovative lead in addressing the growing trend of older adults who do not have access to basic living needs." The award recognizes the effort undertaken by DRCOG as a result of the grant awarded in 2017 by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare to help bridge the gap between medical services and community-based services. Now know as the Accountable Health Communities program, the grant will help DRCOG's AAA build a screening tool to assess patients before they leave a medical or clinical setting and connect them to community-based providers in their area.

That same week, the Colorado Gerontological Society honored DRCOG with its Corporate Award in Aging. This award is given to "organizations and agencies that have demonstrated a strong commitment to helping Colorado’s senior population continue to live independently and healthily. In their leadership, community service, and work to improve the quality of life for older adults through their agency mission, recipients of the Corporate Award in Aging represent the passion and caring that aging requires."
