Council last year advanced plans to revamp east Arapahoe Avenue to put greater emphasis on bus, bike and pedestrian travel, and the 55th and Arapahoe area was among six with the Business Community zoning designation to which new regulations were attached this week that attempt to preserve retail uses of space. The city also has applied for a $200,000 federal grant via the Denver Regional Council of Governments that would be used to develop a master plan for bringing a regional transit hub to 55th and Arapahoe.
