Regional Concept of Transportation Operations

An important example of DRCOG’s collaborative planning process is the Regional Concept of Transportation Operations, which outlines goals for improving regional travel reliability. That involves making the current system work better and perform at its maximum level, and focusing on reducing the impact of traffic incidents. The document, prepared in 2012, is a management tool, presenting a unified direction, shared objectives and performance measures for the region's transportation partners. It also clarifies the roles and responsibilities of the region's transportation systems partners.

The document also guides the allocation of two pools of funds administered by DRCOG through the Transportation Improvement Program: the Traffic Signal System Improvement Program and the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) pool.
