April 7, 2018 - BrokenHealthCare.org and Foundation for Financial Wellness

Description:
This week we welcome back David Silverstein of BrokenHealthcare.org. The purpose of Broken Healthcare is to transform our healthcare system by providing transparency for the medical treatments we pay for. David is excited to report that this week major legislation has been introduced at the Colorado State Legislature. Further, Broken Healthcare has just begun collecting signatures for a ballet measure for vote this fall in case the bill does not pass. So what does this mean? The concept is to bring real transparency to the healthcare market by requiring every healthcare provider to publish their retail price list before your insurance is applied to it. This applies to doctors, hospitals and all healthcare services. It also requires that insurance providers publish what they have negotiated with the healthcare provider. If you support David’s efforts, please call or email your state senator. Our next guest is Brent Hines, the founder and Chairman of the educational non-profit, Foundation for Financial Wellness. Brent tells Murf and Jayla that the purpose of the Foundation is to improve people’s lives by empowering them to take control of their financial lives. Financial planning is personal. It affects all of us. As Brent discusses, you only get one chance at retirement. It is critical that you plan well. In addition to financial education, the foundation concentrates on behavior making financial decisions. The foundation has recently introduced a new program called Legacy Resource Center. This program talks about life and legacy and helps people with their end of life planning and how to settle estates.
