March 31, 2018 - Aging in Westminster and Go Go Grandparent

Description:
Murf and Jennifer Reeves welcome Westminster Mayor and DRCOG Chair Herb Aitchison to this week's program. Mayor Aitchison explains that seniors are the largest growing age group in Westminster and the city is working hard to provide the services and facilities that seniors want and require, such as classes, health and wellness seminars, housing assistance, and many volunteer opportunities. City Council also meets with citizens to find out their interests and concerns. Learn about these and many other opportunities that people in Westminster can benefit from. Mayor Atchison encourages you to consider Westminster if you plan on making a move. Transportation is critical for seniors to age in place. Murf and Jennifer introduce us to a new service to make our connection to transportation much easier. Justin and David tell us about their company, Go Go Grandparent. A business concept developed when Justin assisted his grandmother who wanted to contact Uber for transportation without a smart phone, Go Go Grandparent allows you to sign up with them and then make a single, simple call: all of the arrangements and follow through are made by Go Go Grandparent. Founded only three years ago, the company has now helped schedule rides in 7000 cities. Soon to be developed is a Spanish version and additional services to keep seniors in their homes.
