Bike to Work Day 2008 Was a Great Success! Data from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) for this year's event shows that 25,173 bicycle commuters registered. Cyclists actually numbered closer to 35,000, when combining registered participants with additional surveyed bicyclists who visited breakfast stations across the region, a 43 percent increase over last year's total!
Other statistics from the event include the following:
- 1,088 companies participated in Bike to Work Day by offering information and assistance about the event at their workplaces, up 52% from 2007.
- 120 breakfast stations around the region offered bicycle commuters energy-boosting snacks before heading into work.
- 10,352 first time riders pedaled to work.
- Average commute distance for participants was 10.3 miles (one-way).
Commuters and Businesses Win Big!
